Loud.com Interview With Saigon

Posted by @TeamOnSMASH - January 16, 2009

Saigon responds to the Joe Budden diss track “Letter To Saigon” and also on the upcoming Warning Shots 2 mixtape and more..

New York, NY (January 16, 2009) – Today was ridiculous. Most of work was spent chillin with Scram Jones and the homies Saigon, Rhymefest and Haffa on the set of the latter’s dedication to Obama, “Yes We Can,” set to be included on his upcoming mixtape and Scram’s new producer album. And while I’m paying for it still working at 1:30 in the morning, it was worth it.

As most of you are probably aware, Joe Budden released a record yesterday coming at Saigon; the source of the conflict seems to stem from a punchline by Joe that included Saigon’s likeness, to which, Saigon took offense and said a few things about Joe back. With the release of “Letter To Saigon” this morning, the timeliness of the meeting with Saigon at this video shoot and his comments on the subject (recorded by my esteemed colleague – thank you sir!) make sense in the interest of hip-hop and curiosity that they be the first leak from today’s insanity.

If you recall, a similar situation happened with Budden and new Slaughterhouse buddy Royce Da 5′9 late last year. We had a previously scheduled interview with Royce (props to Kino!), his mixtape had just come out with some words addressing Joe Budden, we asked him about it and proceeded to get both sides of the story to a resolution. Here, however, Saigon had a chance to respond to Budden’s diss record and certainly set the record straight in pure Sai fashion.

In the middle of all this, though, there is something I’d like to make clear: Loud.com and myself don’t support “beef.” Leave that to the gossip blogs. If you notice, little to NO beef is ever posted on the News Section of our site because rap battles today are unable to exist without non-rap beef. And aside from that, beef in general is really fucking stupid. So in the interest of building a positive hip-hop experience WITHOUT the fuckery, we intend on hearing both sides of the story, present it fairly and not sensationalize what isn’t a really dope punchline. After that, unless dope music is being made… read about it elsewhere.

Because as much as I love a good battle… that’s about as far as it needs to go.

Saigon comes across as studio Gangster, but i still think he’ll eat budden. Saigon has real skills on the mic, budden is one of the fakest rappers in the game though…………………… Just make way for JAY ELEC, CURREN$Y, THE CLIPSE, JADAKISS. Nas and Jay been carrying the torch for over 10 years. Give them a break for fux sake!

Should be interesting mc battle but hopefully it ends up in nothing more then that since I’m a fan of both! It would be nice to some kind of same result as what happened with Royce & Joe last year!
