YN hit me today with an email raising an interesting point about Nas’ new record. Admist all this controversy no one’s really acknowledged the whole chorus is directly lifted from Eazy-E at the end of “Niggaz 4 Life” off N.W.A.’s Efil4zaggin album. (@ 4:53 to be exact)
Even less of you probably realize the controversial chorus was derived from a jingle featured in Dr. Pepper commercials dating back to the late seventies.
The latter is much more forgivable on the grounds that most of you weren’t even a glimmer in your parent’s eye yet.
Ghost took the “I just wanna celebrate” off the joint and know Nas takes the “we some niggers” skit..But dont forget..Biggie also got his name off that shit.Dr Dre-”Every bitch I know they wanna get with me,the mother fucking Notorious D.R.E”…Classic
Don’t know if you are YN was trying to say Nas is bitin, cause he wasn’t, it was done as a salute to Cube and em kinda like how Jay does to Big. Example I don’t think people thought Juelz Santana was bitin Scarface for the Santana’s Town “I sit alone in my 4 cornered room staring…” chorus, rappers do that to show love sometimes no big deal. Besides Nas is not only a legend but one of the best lyricists ever, you tend to give people of that caliber the benefit of the doubt especially ehen they’ve blessed you with enough incredible original material to last you two lifetimes.
The above comment personifies the need for this post. Ice Cube was long gone from N.W.A. when this song was released.

OK well if Cube was gone then it was a salute to NWA which makes my case stronger cause Nas is a lyricists lyricists, he wouldnt need to bite off of Eazy-E.
BTW it’s obvious why he usin that hook, it ties NWA’s Efil4zaggin album title to his Nigger plus the titles subject matter. Get off YN’s dick.

sedmos, i agree, one really has to question Nas’ true motives behind all this. I guess we’ll have to wait until he fully explains. I can’t imagine the headaches his PR person has ahead of her.
