Here is a phone interview we did last week with Wale. He’s a DC rapper down with Mark Ronson’s Allido Records and currently entertaining offers from several major labels. Wale was selected by Entertainment Weekly as one of the top 8 artists to watch for 2008, featured on the Cover of URB Magazine with JUSTICE and his record “Nike Boots” was selected by iTunes as a Single of the Week.

I’m a Philly cat to be exact, and after crankin that Wale 300 Miles and Running mixtape this past summer…Let’s just say that I should be an A&R somewhere…the cat got rhymes out the ass without overly doing it, and at the same time not get too stuck on conciously talking about DC…cuz we all know DC is it’s own sub-culture of hip-hop…I fucks with Go-Go music and I love DC women like fried chicken (they are in their own lane, period)…but at the same time I hope Wale doesn’t feel like he has to rep the district so hard that the mainsteam doesn’t get it…he’s doing a great job of manuvering into the limelight and bringing back the “rewind that” feel to the hip-hop landscape.
