Homie could of explained it better but i think he basically saying is that the dj used to play an instrumental role in bringing us new music (crappy baton analogy)they used to be the gatekeepers bringing us the next lil nigga they thought had what the game needed now everybody just makin weezy mixtapes lol

  2. iPLAYAH June 5, 2008 @ 3:12 pm

he’s saying the DJ is acting like an artist.

  3. kenny June 5, 2008 @ 4:49 pm

hell yea u aint lying….dj’s aint like dey used 2…

  4. FLIP June 5, 2008 @ 4:53 pm

As a college graduate, I have no problem admitting that I didn’t understand a muthafuckin word this nigga said.

  5. Tommy Blak June 5, 2008 @ 6:03 pm

That was a crappy analogy but I understand what dude is sayin. I’m a DJ and I always make it my business to play good music and get whats new. It seems like 90% of the DJ’s now are more concerned with gettin themselves out rather than gettin good, no, GREAT music to the people. Which, in my opinion, is why a lot of music comin out now is shitty.

amen brotha. i’ma dj but a different kind son. i don’t put people on at all. i just do mixes and parties man. i don’t fuck with no bootleggin shit.

  7. djstageone June 6, 2008 @ 3:48 am

jd was raised in the old school so why cant the brotha realize the difference between a button pushing dj and a real dj that promotes hip-hop and displays his or her skillz? i dont bootleg but i do show my skillz on my mix-cds.some rappers and street cats r fucking up the game 4 real djs! most mix-cds out now r made by rappers or there people 2 get on or by fake (dj) cats making bootleg joints 4 money.it just goes 2 show how we r losing a grip on the culture and what it stands 4!jd 4got where he came from!stop showcasing fake radio and mix-cd dj’s and holla @ the dj’s that r true 2 da game!i can’t believe we r having this debate DAG!

  8. djstageone June 6, 2008 @ 3:54 am

oh yea the dj is an artist. but i dont want 2 b a rapper though let alone release a compalation lp ( think clue, flex etc.) but whats wrong with being creative and showing skillz?(think rob swift) the dj came first u suckas! remember that!the blend, the remix and the scratch help some of these wack rappers sound better plus we aint going nowhere! church!

I agree with flip this nigga is trying so hard to get a reality show that its not even funny. This nigga’s been spitting some ignorant shit lately. First by saying that money fucked up the game and now about the DJ. Just because industry DJ’S aren’t helping his artist or whatever the case is. It does not mean that DJ’S over all are not doing there job. JD needs to sit his little as up and stop trying to be a philosopher and go make a good beat.

2 turntables and a mic, now… now just cop a computer.

iPLAYA said exactly what I was going to say. In other words, people like D Khaled (or however it’s spelled) are pretty much being artist. We had this exact same conversation at school one day. One of my boys was started it off by saying, “What I don’t understand is….how can muthafuckas like this Khaled dude have a whole damn album out…full of collaborations, like he’s a damn rapper?”

  13. Perezidential Collectivez June 6, 2008 @ 11:21 am

It has always been like that though. DJ cool use to do it all the time. The times he did drop an album. The professional was filled with calbo’s. This is nothing new. I think people are upset because they do not capitalize themselves off of a certain thing. Jermaine started out as a DJ I guess he didn’t see the money, so he switched. It is what it is.

  14. Tommy Blak June 6, 2008 @ 4:32 pm

The DJ IS an artist. Having albums like Khaled’s (that may be spelled wrong) isn’t new. But the DJ Clue Professional albums were compilations. Khaleds’s album was an album version of a mixtape. It sounded like a mixtape. I acutally thought it was a mixtape. You dont have to be a rapper to put out a rap album. But lets see some of the DJ’s do an entire album with one rapper and see how they do. I have more but I dont want to go on forever.

  15. FUCK JD!!! TELL EM HE CAN SUCK MY DICK... NO HOMO June 7, 2008 @ 3:37 am

He speaks the truth for dj who do not want to work hard to get their name out there. They want to get big overnight by passing off what it is they’re doing. Unfortunately a lot of the dj’s who aren’t doing what JD is describing (they are actually playing the new stuff/local stuff/and scratching) aren’t given great opportunities for gigs. Where I’m from, won’t really say, but a lot of the clubs here will overlook a talented black dj for a crappy white one. It’s not nice to say but it’s the truth. JD is dealing with folks who see him for who he is, a celebrity. But it’s not everday a dj is trying to pass out his mixtape. I think it’s too early for him to speak on this issue, maybe he should wait a few years before making that statement.

HAHA @ FLIP .. “.. as a college graduate i didn’t understand a muthafuckin thing this nigga said ..” HAHA .. shit is clownin ..

word to tommy blak .. the djs that are truly about the art of djing (exposing the masses to new and undiscovered artists) are always overlooked.

  18. josh cas June 9, 2008 @ 6:15 am

Jermaine ur right cuz i rember make in da day wen da dj’s use to kind of tell the crowd how good or wat ever this mc is now the dj is tryin 2 be an mc..hip hop /dj is fu ck ed up right now???

  19. DJ Rob Money June 9, 2008 @ 10:56 am

JD is right TO A SMALL DEGREE, and thats because djs is trying to get paid also. He cant say djs are dead because no matter what or how big tyme rappers look at a dj. They still have to repect the fact this it is the djs promoting there shit, in every club around the world. WE ARE YOUR PROMOTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And how can JD talk when he is or was a dj his damn self. LOL. I saw him djing at a kids party in New York. Now was he only playing and promoting his shit?? Or other rappers shit as well. Smile

And my last point is. They talk about djs like we are doing something wrong. I dont see any rapper putting big money my pocket. But im putting money in theres because again. We bring the shit to the club so people hear it and then they go out and buy it. So dont say the djs is dead, cause without us djs (good or bad) Artist aint shit.

Its a case of one hand washing the other. Its about money.
And everybody is trying to get paid. So why can we get paid. Or are we suppose to just put your shit out there so you can get paid and we sit back and watch you grow.

And LIL Fame i mean LIL Wayne is talking that same shit. Here is a brotha thats been on all kinds of mix tapes and now acting djs are fucking up with him.

It shows everytime. Niggas wit money DONT KNOW HOW TO ACT.

  22. DJ Crumbz June 13, 2008 @ 2:59 pm

One thing’s for sure, he’s not talking to the real dj’s who do in fact STILL do exist today. If in anyway you were offended by his comment, don’t get mad. It’s your own fault.
