Kimbo Wants A Rematch With Gannon

    Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Kimbo Slice, known for his backyard fighting viral videos, is calling out Sean Gannon for a rematch. He lost their first match together after Gannon put him in a guillotine hold. Kimbo is currently on the EliteXC Mixed Martial Arts circuit and his next fight will be on February 16th versus Tank Abbott. Meanwhile, Gannon hasn’t had a fight since 2005, so the rematch might not happen.

THE sneakers to rock @ Shea Stadium this season (unless you copped the Elmer’s Glue Air Max 90s, which would also be acceptable). Looks like the Mets are getting Johan Santana, unless of course they mess that up too.

No official drop date but this might actually be my first AF1 cop in quite some time. Nigo must be super tight about this collab. Colorway is VERY similar to the HUFxNike Hufquake collab, but with a low-key design. Stay Tuned… More pics @ KoreanTomCruise

    Industry Shakedown: The Music Manifesto

    Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

The music industry is dying slowly. At least the industry as we knew it is—just check out last week’s SoundScan. In true V For Vendetta fashion, a masked Jack Davey—the singing, female half of the electro-soul-hip-hop duo J*Davey—has declared war against and independence from the music biz status quo. In this strange, yet poignant 11-minute diatribe against the big boys of music media (Universal, Sony-BMG, Warner, EMI, MTV, etc.) our Masked Avenger middle-fingers everyone from big wigs to personal assistants for turning a business based on art into a business that cranks out crappy product to the lowest common denominator. Is she buggin’ or kickin’ the truth to the young Black (and white and Asian and Latino) youth? You decide. Props to R. thentic

It’s the Roc Mutha@!#$… Well, sorta..

    Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

    roc-chain.jpg

Jay-Z’s inner camp, including A&R SVP Jay Brown and A&R VP Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith, tendered their resignations this month. However, the rest of Def Jam’s A&R department is intact. Still, things are tenuous for hip-hop at the company.

I don’t think there’s going to be a Roc-A-Fella anymore,” says the insider. “I do think each artist will have to go to the new people in charge and have a meeting separately. But the Roc artists aren’t going to roll over and die.”

Grand Theft Auto IV drops April 29th for XBox & PS3

    Sunday, January 27th, 2008

    2wcp5op.jpg

GTA IV is the gaming world’s version of Detox. Atleast one finally has a release date. A Rockstar Games exec blames the delay partially on the PS3. Apparently all that fancy hardware comes with a steep learning curve for developers. XBox 360 & PS3 versions are supposedly identical.
